Chain Bridge Native Landscapes (CBNL) offers sustainable, native, garden design services to clients in and around the McLean, Virginia area. The first step of every project is a conversation and/or on-site visit to discuss goals and options. Client projects range from full master plan designs to partial property designs. CBNL works with trusted installers to implement approved final designs.

A graduate of Georgetown University, Barbara Ryan, CBNL Owner and Founder, holds a Master's Degree in Sustainable Landscape Design from George Washington University, and is a Certified Virginia Horticulturist (VNLA) and Certified Level 2 Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP, Design and Installation). She also holds BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Economics from former endeavors.

In addition to her work designing native gardens, Barbara is actively involved with community environmental and conservation initiatives. She has been appointed to serve as the Fairfax County Dranesville District Tree Commissioner and on the county’s Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance Exception Review Committee as well as the Citizens Advisory Group of ResilientFairfax. In her spare time, she volunteers as a Fairfax Master Naturalist. Barbara also serves on the Boards of the Virginia Native Plant Society and the McLean Trees Foundation, and formerly chaired the McLean Citizens Association Environment, Parks, and Recreation Committee.
